Not a lot of research has been done yet, but they do look to be safe during these times, even beneficial. As for most of us 2 tablespoons a day is the recommended dose. Chia help to reduce acid reflux, nausea, and deal with digestive issue like constipation (due to their high fibre content) and energy. They are a great plant source of protein and omega fatty acids as well.
Some lactating women swear by this drink to increase their supply of milk.

1 cup coconut water
2 tbls plain goat milk kefir
2 tbls goat yogurt
Raw honey to taste
2 tbsp chia seeds.
