Coconut Turmeric Milk is one hellova detoxifying, hormone balancing, energy giving, skin clearing drink!
There’s a few ways to make it. You can either simply mix 1 tsp organic ground turmeric into about one cup of coconut milk, and add a sweetener (or not) – things like raw honey, rice syrup or maple syrup.
OR make a paste –
‘Golden Turmeric + Coconut Paste.’
Makes 2 cups
You could makes lots of this recipe and store in the fridge for 2-3 weeks. It’ll start to thicken once cool. Give it a little shake to prevent separation.
Ingredients-
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp ginger, ground
1/2 tsp cinnamon, ground or a quill
1/2 tsp cardamom. ground
1/4 tsp unrefined salt
½ cup turmeric, ground (like this)
1 and 1.5 cups filtered water, plus .5 cup more
.5 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup raw honey (optional)
Method – Combine pepper, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.
Combine turmeric and 1.5 cups of water in a small pot, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Bring mixture to a very gentle simmer and add another 1/2 cup of water. Continue to stir with a wooden spoon.
Add the mixed spices in the other bowl to the pot and continue to cook and stir on low for 3 minutes, until you have a thick and smooth paste.
Turn off the heat and add the coconut oil. Continue to stir until completely smooth. (Some people use ghee here, or half/half.) Allow to cool a little before sweetening.
