We need to be mindful of how often we eat prawns, and where they come from. Christmas is a time where the demand increases so it’s especially important to ask some questions.
AVOID imported Vannamei and Tiger Prawns. They’re grown in Asia using environmentally destructive techniques, and fed toxic ‘food’. These should be avoided at all costs. Remember they’ll also be used in frozen prawn cutlets and pizza’s etc.
Wild and Australian Farmed Prawns are a better option (these include Crystal Bay).
And ‘haul caught school’ and ‘bay (Greentail) prawns’ from NSW are a good choice also.
