Insulin is a hormone that controls how the food you eat is changed into energy, or stored as fat for later use.
Women with PCOS don’t respond normally to insulin. Resistance to insulin increases the body’s insulin levels which affects normal ovulation by preventing the body from ovulating or limiting the maturation process of the released egg.
As a result it is very difficult to manage a healthy weight and cravings are a big problem for those with #InsulinResistance and PCOS -around 10-20% of women of child bearing age.
Over time, insulin resistance can lead to type 2 diabetes, so insulin levels must be managed by managing stress, diet, exercise, herbal medicine and supplements.

  • Magnolia – traditionally used for the treatment of anxiety and depression, however latest research, confirms it is also great for heart health, arthritis and promotes insulin sensitivity and is anti‑obesity.
  • Licorice- It supports healthy insulin levels and liver health for hormonal balance support.
  • Gymnema – This herb has a “sugar blocking” action on taste buds and the small intestine. It works by stimulating the regeneration of pancreatic cells that produce insulin, which aids in more insulin production.
