Mushrooms are one of the only vegetarian sources of Selenium. Selenium is a mineral that works as an antioxidant to protect our cells from free radical damage that causes oxidative stress – which contributes to chronic disease and ageing. It’s also a super important mineral for the immune system and fertility in men. Animal foods and grains are also good sources of selenium, but mushrooms are amongst the richest sources of selenium from veggies. (Brazil nuts are great also btw.) #mushrooms
